Our Story
Oléa by Delafrance is an alliance between two people who love their countries and have had atypical careers.
One is Kurdish and an expert in Import/Export between France and the Middle East, the other is French and has been passionate about cosmetics, perfumes and beauty products since she was a child.
Friends for over 20 years, they decided to create Oléa Delafrance to make you discover the best of both worlds.
THE FOUNDERS
Zoubeyr Mahy
"The man who lived thousand lives."
With Kurdish origin, this former fighter against the Iraqi regime and Head of a prison camp arrived in France in 1991 thanks to the intervention of Madame Mitterand.
His goal was simple: to do whatever it takes to become a French citizen, without forgetting his roots or helping other Kurdish political refugees like himself. The Franco-Kurdish Association was born of this determination in 1997.
But his willing to integrate France didn't stop there. A simple construction worker at the time, he courageously began his entrepreneurial journey by opening Le Marché d'Orient (2002), then, on the strength of his first success, created Lush Tech (2012) followed by MT NUTRI (2022), its French company exporting to Kurdistan.
Séverine Tesson
"A born challenger."
With a passion for cosmetics, interior design, and memories of her family who lived in Morocco for over 10 years, Séverine has had an unusual career path where her two worlds have intersected.
She met Zoubeyr in 1998 and discovered, through his family and the Kurdish community in France, the story of an extraordinary community with customs and traditions firmly rooted in a world that has not spared them.
She assisted Zoubeyr in setting up his shop Au Marché d'Orient in October 2002, and 6 months later opened her own boutique selling gifts, interior decoration and Made in France fragrances. She also became Secretary of the Association Franco-Kurde de Midi-Pyrénées in 2009 and supported the
activities of Lush Tech and MT Nutri from 2014 to this day.
"The initial idea was to make Made in France products accessible to the autonomous Kurdistan region of Iraq and the Middle East."
Since 2009, they are travelling together between France and Kurdistan to develop Zoubeyr businesses, are helping several delegations of kurdish politicians come to France to make them discover the country, sent many humanitarian aids and fundings to refugees...
And so one of their "trademark" until today is to always arrive to Kurdistan with Made in France gifts for the people they know or work with as a mark of respect and appreciation for their hospitality. France's reputation being well established globally (fashion, culinary specialties, perfumes, cosmetics...) the aim was simply to share with each of them little pieces of what remains distant and inaccessible as when Zoubeyr or Severine were children.
From this generous and recurrent tradition popped one day the idea of creating
Oléa by Delafrance!
